Jens Kuross
Boise, ID
Who on earth is Jens Kuross?
He's been hiding in plain sight: a fumbled career as an LA session musician and songwriter, a cabinet maker in Idaho. Crooked Songs, his debut for Woodsist, is mysterious, warm, and heart-stirring. Using just voice and electric piano, the music delicately enswathed by ambient synth – minimal without losing sight of his songcraft Crooked Songs suggests an otherworldly naturalism akin to a ghost returning to earth to observe the passing of time, life, and light.
" Collectively, the songs are equal parts beautiful and remarkably despondent. If Crooked Songs proves to be a landing spot after a career of sonic detours, we can only hope it’s the beginning of a bountiful second act.”
- Aquarium Drunkard
"...It is the sound of life and a perfect way to end such a raw, bold set of songs that are quietly profound and powerful in their unvarnished delivery. This album is something special.”
KLOF
"Crooked Songs feels like the magic of stumbling upon a hidden talent performing for an audience of none – like walking in on someone playing after hours in a school auditorium by themselves.”
