Witch Post
United States / Scotland
Witch Post is a band comprised of Scottish musician Dylan Fraser and American musician Alaska Reid. They met by chance, both having solo careers in the music industry but on different sides of the coin. Coincidentally, they also discovered that they are from towns of the same name, one in Scotland, one in Montana. Alaska comes from the American indie scene and Dylan from the UK’s alternative scene. Witch Post seeks to reclaim band music. They write songs that honour the wolffish qualities of Scottish Rock n’ Roll & the driving openness of American music. The name Witch Post comes from 17th century carvings in rural England that were crafted to ward off witches. Alaska and Dylan have adopted the name in honour of the witch.
Witch Post’s music pulls in equal parts from heaven and hell: their harmonic lightness wrestling with bloody, serrated guitars and infernal drums. The result sounds like a new incarnation of a sound and spirit pioneered by the likes of Pixies and Sonic Youth. The duo sparked intrigue through early singles like “Chill Out” and “Rust” which earned praise from The Line of Best Fit, DORK, PAPER, Clash, Notion, Wonderland and Stereogum among many more. Their 2025 debut ‘Beast’ EP sets the stage for Witch Post to claim their place as one of the brightest and buzziest new acts of this year, bolstered even more by newly released reworked versions of ‘Beast’ highlights, “The Wolf” and “Dreaming”.
