Alie Byland
Albuquerque-raised and Seattle-based, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alie Renee performs under the moniker Byland, crafting a cinematic indie-rock sound marked by emotional depth, unexpected textures, and disarming vocal intimacy. Her music balances expansive arrangements with moments of striking vulnerability, inviting listeners to lean closer. Byland has garnered acclaim from outlets including KEXP, Under The Radar, American
Songwriter, FLOOD Magazine, and more. Her latest studio record, Heavy For A While, released on Mother West in March 2024, is both timeless and “a little weird,” embracing offbeat arrangements and bold sonic choices. The album was co-written with longtime collaborator and friend Jacob John, and brought to life by a Grammy-winning team including production by Nathan Yaccino (Matt Cameron, Pearl Jam, Norah Jones), guitar contributions from Skyler Mehal, mixing by Brandon Bell (Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton), and mastering by Pete Lyman (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton).
