Finding Creative Unicorns
Fri 3/27, 2:00 pm – 2:50 pm
JUMP 5th floor : The Move Room
The creative hiring landscape has changed. “Sink or swim” is out. Curiosity, adaptability, and empathy are in. This presentation explores how to fi nd, hire, and retain creative unicorns—people who think critically, take initiative, care deeply about values, and bring a growth mindset to their work. We’ll unpack what it really means to hire “Swiss Army knife” creatives in a world where AI accelerates ideation, prototyping, and problem-solving—and why learning velocity now matters more than any single skill set. Using real-world examples rooted in Boise and beyond, this talk covers how to identify creative talent that blends craft with curiosity and embraces new technology. We’ll also share practical tips and tricks for creatives searching for their dream job. Finally, the presentation dives into how to build a culture of psychological safety and innovation—one that encourages failing forward, nurtures better ideas, and keeps creatives engaged in an era where Gen Z averages less than two years in a role. Through an interactive activity connecting talent and potential employers, we’ll wrap up with laughter, good vibes, and (hopefully) a few new connections for future opportunities. Attendees will leave with practical tips, hiring philosophies, and cultural frameworks to build creative teams that don’t just perform—but thrive.
