Dive in to our second round of artists!
pop-rock, alt, revenge songs
Canadian pop-rock queens The Beaches are gonna grace the stage at Treefort! Composed of sisters Jordan Miller and Kylie Miller, plus besties Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel, the band has seen each other through everything, from middle school — they originally formed during their early 2000s adolescence — to high-school graduation and beyond. The four members have formed a deep friendship that has carried them through coming out, late nights in the studio, and the ends of relationships. Let’s be real, nothing really bonds people together more than hating each other’s exes. Their tune “Blame Brett” went absolutely viral (an acerbic pop-rock knockout Jordan calls “a song for all the hot messes out there,”), and we now all hate Brett ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Catch them Thursday (3/26) at Main Stage!
alt-rock, indie pop
Indie-rockers Mother Mother are weird. And that’s how they like it. They started in the scene 20 years ago, and have stuck together through thick and thin. In 2020, their song “Hayloft” suddenly went viral on TikTok, proceeded to go platinum in the U.S. and they’ve been riding that high ever since. Now, their latest album (also being released on their 20 year anniversary) has loads of new songs, mixed with retakes of old hits. Aptly named Nostalgia, it contains multitudes and tbh, Mother Mother can pull off just about anything. “We write about not fitting in, about anti-establishment, about finding your truth, about chickens and fingers and all sorts of quirky stuff,” lead singer Ryan Guldemond explains. How Treefort of them. Come get weird with Mother Mother at Main Stage Saturday (3/28)!
pop-rock, alt, revenge songs
Meet Duckwrth aka Jared Leonardo Lee– LA based rapper, singer, producer, and songwriter. He combines funk, soul, hip-hop, R&B, and rock into a wild riot on sound that doesn’t try to fit in a mold. It’s loud, messy, honest, and fully in its feelings. His latest release, All American F*kboy, jumps from punk to R&B to house music without warning, but that’s kinda the point. On this latest album is a song with the lyrics “You text me on a plane, I’m just tryna watch Shrek” and I don’t think I’ve ever felt more seen….ever.
Duckwrth has been compared to artists like Andre 3000, Parliament, and Hendrix; he’s collaborated with artists like A-Trak, Cordae, Tobe Nwigwe, and Machinedrum; and his single “Start a Riot”, featuring Shaboozey, was even featured in the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This show is gonna be wild, so don’t miss out!
alternative R&B, electronica, soul
Get ready for some sultry R&B with JMSN. Detroit-bred American singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist JMSN has been to Treefort before (in 2017!!!), and we are so stoked to have him back! Known for his genre-blending, soulful “Hippie R&B” sound, mixing R&B, soul, funk, jazz, and electronic elements, often handling production and video direction himself for his independent label, White Room Records, and collaborating with artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. He is a phenomenal voice, a fabulous songwriter, and he has always stayed true to his unique sound. He’s noted for his intricate studio work and emotionally intense live shows, as well as being a prolific producer, having worked with USHER, Mac Miller, Ab-Soul, KAYTRANADA, Freddie Gibbs, and more.
pop-rock, alt, revenge songs
Idk that you’re ready for some Haute & Freddy, y’all! The dazzling brainchild of Michelle Buzz and Lance Shipp, this pop duo has a love for ren-faire fashion and underground club culture, and really don’t give a f*ck. Plus they’ve got loads of talent. They’ve previously written songs for the like of Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, and Katie Perry, and now they’re the ringleaders of their own little freak circus.
They’ve got synth-pop. They’ve got theatricality. They’ve got camp! They’ve got insane costumes! We’re basically gonna be reliving Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, but make it Berghain (and if you’re unfamiliar with either of those references…just wait and see).
art-pop, indie, electro-soul
The longstanding project of Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner, Tune-Yards is FINALLY coming to TMF! From their quintessential 2011 album W H O K I L L to their latest release Better Dreaming, Tune-Yards has always made ferociously life-affirming mixes of funk, electropop, a capella, soul, lo-fi, and art-rock.
Better Dreaming continues that well established sound–it’s all about, “self-love, collective action, dance floor liberation, ego-death deliverance, and a future we could all thrive in.” Now that I can get into.
folk-pop, indie rock
This rising indie-pop duo of Maia Ciambriello and Sasha Goldberg started as childhood friends who shared a singing coach. The pair studied music together in New Orleans, perfecting their craft over the COVID years spent stuck inside. As long-term friends, their close bond shines through in their first album Fruit for Flies, saturating the record with an emotional and aesthetic intimacy that can’t be manufactured or replicated elsewhere. It’s this specific brand of sincerity that instantly sucks you in.
It’s pop but with jazzy R&B influences, or dark gritty guitar riffs. It’s unexpected, honest, and just dang fun! We can’t wait to have The Army, The Navy at Treefort this year!
experimental indie, synth-pop, playful
Gelli Haha is pure creative chaos, existing somewhere between Studio 54 and Area 51. Her high-voltage performances are full of theatrical props, synchronized dance moves, and groovy vintage flair. Gelli Haha’s music thrives on duality: playful but profound, tongue-in-cheek but sincere. Some say it’s like “a children’s party on acid“. Let’s just call her strictly silly.
So, welcome to The Gelliverse, a sensory adventure sphere created by Gelli. This live revue is an invitation into a world of dolphin balloons, flutes, mini trampolines, and a stage bathed in the project’s primary color, red – bold and full of mischief.
indie rock, orchestral electronic, experimental
Kishi Bashi is the pseudonym of Emmy-nominated singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kaoru Ishibashi. Born in the PNW, and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Ishibashi is a virtuoso violinist and a Berklee College of Music alumnus. He is renowned for his groundbreaking collaborations with symphonies across the U.S., such as the National Symphony Orchestra (Kennedy Center), Chicago Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, and Oregon Symphony.
This Treefort (because as many of you know, he’s been here before 💚) he’s celebrating 10 years of his iconic album Sonderlust and will be playing the album in full! His ever-evolving orchestral work continues to break ground, blending classical and pop influences in performances that continue to captivate audiences worldwide. We can’t wait to have him back in Boise!
