The Colossal Collective
The Colossal Collective is a group of Boise-based artists, engineers, builders, and performers who collaborate around a singular mission: to create magic, and spread a sense of childlike wonder through their larger-than-life puppets.
Since 2012, the Colossal Collective has been providing unforgettable and fantastical experiences in the Boise area. Their creations make regular appearances at the Illumibrate, Treefort Music Festival, and the Idaho Botanical Gardens, as well as traveling to many other art festivals throughout the western US. They’re also frequently spotted roaming the streets of downtown Boise.
The group was founded by local artist Sam Johnson. Sam grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and studied fine art at Whitman College, and business administration at Boise State University. He is a firm believer that art should be experienced and interacted with, not just observed and consumed.
