As Chief Information Security Officer at BEN, Sandy oversees the company’s cybersecurity strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the protection of digital assets. She works closely with the executive team to mitigate risks and strengthen security resilience in an evolving technological landscape.
Additionally, as an Adjunct Professor at Boise State University’s Institute for Pervasive Cybersecurity, she develops curriculum, guides student learning, and mentors future cybersecurity professionals. Her work emphasizes critical thinking, effective communication, and career development.
With extensive experience in cybersecurity leadership, Sandy contributes to industry advancement through board membership, capstone project coordination, and strategic security initiatives that bridge academia and professional practice.

In her workshop this year, participants will receive a playbook and learn to test applications for vulnerabilities related to Large Language Model (LLM) attacks and simulate adversarial attacks against AI models with a free license for the SPLX.ai platform.

Attendees will learn:
The 6 layers of AI defense
The nuances of testing nondeterministic systems,
The difference between prompt injection attacks and jail breaking attacks,
How to create probes (test cases) for bias, toxicity, alignment, and safety.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops but it is not required.
