Houston born and Boise raised, MJD is a versatile artist who refuses to limit his potential by sticking to one genre of music. MJD began his career when he was seventeen years old. Holding a love and appreciation for the music of the 90s, as well as artists such as Joey Bada$$ and Kendrick Lamar, he started to rap. Initially, it was only a hobby, a creative outlet that he could use to express himself and his emotions. His friends at the time encouraged him to take it more seriously, as they believed that he had a talent for it. He continued to create music and improve at his craft, and while doing so, realized that this was his passion, as well as a way for him to achieve his dreams and goals. He took the next step as an artist: learned how to produce instrumentals, began performing at shows, and started to work with other artists in the city. MJD usually produces most of his own songs, as well as producing for other artists that he works with. He loves to perform and makes sure to bring the energy to every stage he appears on.
