Jean-Marc Gauthier, Virtual Technology and Design, University of Idaho
Moscow, ID
As Program Director of Virtual Technology and Design and Associate Professor at the University of Idaho. I lead the development and design of innovative virtual worlds, and oversee the VRLab. My most recent research projects have focused on collaborations and digital twin working with AI agents. The VRLab enables diverse users to collaborate in real-time within shared virtual workspaces, facilitating the prototyping of social interactions for the metaverse and for industrial applications. The current projects include lunar surface, wildfires, virtual forests, bio-computing, and virtual semi-conductor fabs.
Fostering student growth in animation and virtual world creation is a large part of the momentum that I seek to provide. My work involves creating applications of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) for entertainment, education, bio-sciences, industry. I am dedicated to advancing research in digital ecosystems, human-centered mixed reality (MR), and data visualization.
