Idaho Dance Theatre is Idaho's first professional contemporary ballet company, founded in 1989 by Marla and Alfred Hansen, joined by Carl Rowe as Co-Artistic Director. Now led by senior company member and choreographer Yurek Hansen, IDT aims to continue facilitating and advancing the art of dance as part of the cultural and educational environment of the NW through dance performances, educational opportunities and artistic collaborations. We love being in the studio creating new works, performing original choreography, and presenting live improvisation. We mix and choose our own music, create soundscapes live on stage, and collaborate with musicians and live bands. From performing in full proscenium theaters with high-quality production to bare-bone, stripped-down intimate spaces, we invite the audience to viscerally experience what we’ve created– to “Experience the Unexpected”.
