Ging Nang Boyz
hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Legendary Tokyo punk band formed in 2003. Ging Nang Boyz started out playing in small underground clubs but quickly crossed over into the Japanese mainstream with a unique penchant for melody and a vulnerable sentimentality, on top of their electric live performances. Charismatic frontman Kazunobu Mineta brings a thrilling intensity and physicality to the stage, often drawing comparisons to Iggy Pop. After releasing two debut albums simultaneously in 2005, Mineta spent the next few years acting in Japanese film and television, eventually returning with two follow up albums in 2014. The band reached new highs in the years that followed, playing the main stage at the internationally renowned Fuji Rock Festival in 2019, as well as two separate sold out shows at the iconic Nippon Budokan arena in 2017 and 2019. Their 2021 single, “Boi Meets Girrrl,” (Japanese title 少年少女) was featured as the opening theme to the anime series Sonny Boy and introduced the band’s music to a new international audience. Their YOU & I VS. THE WORLD 2025 tour sees them touring the USA for the first time.
