Calvin Pineda & The Antacids

Boise, ID

Antifolk darlings and cassette tape enthusiasts, Calvin Pineda & The Antacids present: music for persons with upset stomachs. Inspired by the lo-fi can-do-itude of Daniel Johnston and The Mountain Goats, they perform as a revolving-door band and sometime-solo project, fronted by the eponymous Guatemalan enby songwriter. Their current lineup includes Bennett Huhn (of Talon Smartt) on drums and guitar; Claeo McDermott (of cryshadow) on bass; and introducing the inimitable Blythe Pineda on keys. Drums machines, accordions, and slide whistles also make themselves known.

They have shared bills with alt-folk luminaries such as Jeffrey Lewis and Foot Ox, with Jerry Kranitz of Copy This Cassette! magazine describing their sound as “...like Bob Dylan with a streetcorner jug band." Their debut studio album, "What Doesn't Kill You Kills You Faster," was released digitally and on cassette in 2024. Based in Boise, Idaho, they are currently crafting an album of ex-Mormon breakup songs, and plotting bi-coastal tours in summer 2026.

Total Bob Dylan songs covered: 36 (and counting) out of 866.
