At its core, Bad Self Portraits is about vulnerability—embracing discomfort and the complexities of human relationships, all while learning how to (sometimes unsuccessfully) navigate change as a twenty-something. Influenced by the sounds of 90’s alternative-rock & modern indie alike, their music blends fuzzy guitars, introspective lyrics, and cheap synthesizers into something that simultaneously feels both familiar and refreshingly new. Formed in 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska, Bad Self Portraits is the product of high school & college friendships, and they continue to carve out their own space in the indie music scene in the Midwest & beyond.
