How IoT Works: A Hands-On Introduction to the ESP32
Sat 3/28, 1:00 pm – 1:50 pm
JUMP 5th floor : The Makerspace
Getting started with IoT doesn’t have to mean complex cloud stacks or expensive hardware. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of Internet of Things (IoT) using the ESP32 microcontroller, one of the most accessible and powerful platforms for at-home projects.
Participants will learn how to set up an ESP32, connect a basic sensor, and wirelessly transmit live data to a host device in real time. The session focuses on practical skills: understanding the ESP32 ecosystem, configuring wireless communication, and building a simple end-to-end data pipeline that can be expanded into home automation, environmental monitoring, or creative tech projects.
No prior embedded systems experience is required. Attendees will leave with a working mental model for IoT systems, example code, and the confidence to continue building connected devices at home.
