My first memory of creating a rainstick during childhood was a planted seed that became a creative spark again in my mid 20s. At the time I felt creatively stuck and the repetitive steps of crafting rainsticks was meditative and therapeutic. Rainsticks taught me how to move through challenges in the creative process and find peace and inspiration. A beautiful layer to playing with a rainstick is that you don't need musical talent to enjoy and create a soothing sound. Whether you play, dance, meditate, or pray with it, the rainstick offers many ways to express yourself. Each rainstick is a unique creation, but they all include red quinoa. Looking into its history, red quinoa symbolizes resilience and nourishment, which have become a part of my artistic expression.
