Montreal, QC, Canada
What started out as the pandemic hibernation project of Mischa Dempsey is now the fully fledged Montreal-based indie-rock unit knitting. Self-described as “guitar music for people who like guitar music”, knitting plays with frayed emotions, self recognition and introspection, to create songs that are earnest and raw. The band – made up of Dempsey, Sarah Harris, Piper Curtis and Andy Mulcair – exhibit a palpable chemistry, bringing new life and intensity to knitting’s 2021 lo-fi bedroom-produced self-titled album. Following a year of rehearsals, knitting kickstarted their career with appearances at Canadian showcasing festivals Sled Island (Calgary, AB), POP Montreal (Montreal, QC) and Lawnya Vawnya (St John's, NL), as well as several well-attended hometown shows. With a second full length album in the works, knitting is setting out to become one of the most exciting new guitar bands in Canadian music.
