GPU-Powered Slime Mold Art Installation - Jackson Callaway

Jackson Callaway is a recovering software engineer exploring complex emergent patterns and spontaneous organization through particle simulations and their interactions with the human form.
Simple rules, complex patterns. Several million particles, each only a pixel wide, leave rapidly fading trails of color in their wake. Fellow particles track these trails, creating a feedback loop that blossoms into swarming and flocking behaviors. From these micro-patterns emerge macro-patterns that evoke the organic shapes of the slime mold Physarum Polycephalum.
Jackson enjoys creating interactive experiences that encourage viewers to notice patterns that span the physical, biological and digital worlds.
