While many guitar-pop groups develop more easygoing tendencies, Dippers (formerly known as Thigh Master) are noted for a more rambunctious approach. Hook-laden exertion filled with imperious string bends and riffage framing witty tales of alternate realities through a neurodivergent lens. The intervals of ragged, jangly guitar riffs interspersed with waves of sonic mischief likened to the sounds of Kiwi bands a la Toy Love, The Bats and 3Ds, Australian bands of the same era such as The Cannanes, The Moles and early Go Betweens, and power-pop groups such as Big Star, The Toms and Cleaners From Venus. Under their previous guise as Thigh Master, the band have been invited to support internationally renowned artists such as Courtney Barnett, Real Estate, Ty Segall, Spiral Stairs, The Clean, Sheer Mag and more, received heavy rotation on independent radio stations world-wide, not to mention acclaim by publications such as The Guardian, Rolling Stone & The Wire. Between 2012 - 2020 Thigh Master released a substantial catalogue of 7” & cassettes, as well as 2 full length LPs on labels such as Goner Records, 12XU, Bruit Direct Disques, Coolin’ By Sound, and their own label imprint Tenth Court. The group has toured extensively throughout the US, Europe & Japan, as well as countless tours throughout Australia. To signify the expanded sonic dimensions opened through the recording of their new EP ‘Looking for a Sphere’, and upcoming third album, the duo changed their name to Dippers in 2022. Their upcoming third LP, entitled Clastic Rock, is due for release through Goner Records in 2023.
