Crush The Monster is a Cowboy Doom Prog Psych band from Boise, Idaho. Initially forming as a ragtag brigade of beer-drinking garagerockers, Crush has found their identity over the past year and a half. After gigging heavily in the surrounding Mountain West with two records under their belt, Crush is dredging towards cosmic exploration at full speed with no intention of looking back. Whether it be 20 minute Grateful Dead jams, psychedelic stoner ballads, or Crushing hardcore breakdowns not even the band knows what to expect at their next show, or next song even. Each set is heavily invested in the meaning of our collective consciousness, our innate connectivity through music, our cosmic meaning, and humanness, each note is played with intention and each Crush show is an opportunity to explore the woven web that connects us all. Opening for the likes of Elder, Belzebong, Matt Pike vs. The Automaton, and Dreadnought, Crush has dense roots in Heavy Psychedelia. The band pulls from a wide array of influences from varying decades, namely 60’s/70’s prog rock like Pink Floyd, Yes, and Rush, jammy guitar dogfights such as the Allman Brothers and Led Zeppelin, and desert rock from the 90’s and early aughts with bands like Kyuss, Queens of The Stone Age, and Alice in Chains. Getting as far as chicken-pickin' bluegrass and traditional country/folk/americana with bands such as Billy Strings, Townes Van Zandt, and the Grateful Dead. It wasn’t until late 2021 until the band crossed into a new echelon of heaviness and brutality. The band grew a distinct liking to and drew pivotal inspiration from Stoner/Prog-Metal giants like Elder, Gojira, Pallbearer, and Mastodon. Also diving into an eclectic mix of Death Metal and Hardcore thanks to their local influences Barn, Ingrown, and Throes.
