Crush The Monster

🏠Boise, ID
Crush The Monster is a Progressive Cowboy Doom band from Boise, Idaho. Whether it be expansive stoner riffs, crushing breakdowns, or sweeping exploration of noise and ambience due to their gear heavy ethos, not even the band knows what to expect. Heavily invested in the meaning of our collective consciousness, Crush pushes the listener to seek presence in their life through music. Each note is played with intention and listening to Crush is an opportunity to sonically explore the woven web that connects us all.
Initially forming as a ragtag brigade of beer-drinking garagerockers, Crush has found their identity over the past 3 dense years of bandhood. As the band wrote and recorded their debut LP “Carlsbad” coming out of the throes of the Covid pandemic, they underwent a myriad of line-up changes and experimented heavily with different soundscapes and writing practices.
This exploration is what ultimately formed Crush’s unique yet dynamic sound today and established their fondness of the unexpected.
As the band progressed with a streamlined creative vision, they dove head first into the sounds of Elder, Mastodon, Gojira and Intronaut looking for ways to further innovate their sound. Ultimately what broke the camel’s back was the opportunity to open for Elder, Belzebong, and Dreadnought in late 2022. The band, at the time a 6 piece, muscled together to create their heaviest and most psychedelic riffs to date. These songs, over the next year, slowly became their sophomore release, “Death” (Sep 2024), the band’s entry ticket into the Stoner Metal zeitgeist. “Death 1”, the lone single off the album, is influenced heavily by the sounds of the fabled Desert Rock genre, pulling lower-tunings and chugging riffs from Kyuss, a glimmer of Queens of The Stone Age’s pop prowess, and the early set intention of being played in full driving down a bleak desert highway through bat country. As the album progresses, so do the progressive elements. Slowly churning into the psychedelic opus that is The Spectral Line.
Crush is currently prepping for tour and passively writing and recording albums 3 and 4. Dredging ever deeper into the worlds of Stoner Rock, Prog Metal, Psychedelic Rock, Hardcore, Experimental Music, Hip-Hop, and Bluegrass. An amalgamation in which the band pens “PROGRESSIVE COWBOY DOOM”.
