3D Printed Warhammer Gaming - Wheat Belt Wargaming

Our booth will showcase this new aspect of the hobby, presenting visitors with a “Drop in and Play” game that has been used by Wheat Belt Wargaming to introduce the hobby. What A Stormtrooper! features a small-scale skirmish over a settlement in the Star Wars universe. The game is entirely 3D printed – the units, the terrain, even the board itself. Additionally, we will have a 3D printer producing wargame-related items, and a member of the WBW organization available to discuss the technology-related aspects of the hobby, how to get started, etc.

Miniatures wargaming is a hobby that has enjoyed a surge of popularity. Previously, the barrier to entry in this field has been high, especially for miniatures in plastic, which demanded the capital to support injection moulding. More recently, the widespread proliferation of 3D printers has enabled an explosion of independent companies to sculpt, produce, and sell wargaming miniatures. Some of these are major Kickstarters, while others are passion projects by individual creators bringing their vision to life. Resin printers have enabled new ranges of models that would never be economically viable in mass production and gaming enthusiasts represent one of the most visible userbases for this technology.
