The Easy Way to Add Programmable LEDs to Anything - Interactive Light Show by Jeff Vyduna

Fri 3/28, 10:00 am – 10:50 am
Boise Centre East - Room 410C
What's the easiest way to add LEDs to your art, bike, home, or costume? Jeff has tried everything, from $10 WLED boards to $300,000 setups, and there's one clear stand out for any hacker: Pixelblaze.
Pixelblaze is a $39 web server that's the size of a quarter, and it's the secret behind the most incredible projects using 5,000 programmable LEDs or less. Unlike Arduino, you program it over WiFi using a simplified version of JavaScript. The code is compiled and running instantly on your LEDs after every single keystroke. This means you learn LED programming faster than any other way imaginable. Making sound and motion-reactive LEDs has never been easier.
You can follow along with the presentation, or tune out and try Pixelblaze using your own laptop or phone. Jeff will bring several LED sculptures and toys that participants can connect to and hack on. You can trigger different animations or go ahead and try your hand at modifying the code. Can you make something so beautiful or annoying that it distracts Jeff from his presentation?
