Ah, the murky but oh-so-important world of music licensing. We’ll have industry professionals and artists that've landed these deals on hand to explain the basics of licensing and publishing. Afraid of being seen as a sell-out? We’ll also chat about some of the ethical dilemmas to consider before signing that contract.

Videos are the new demo, and you need one to be taken seriously by the industry. While software is making it easier for anyone to make a video and put it up on You Tube, you need some guidance! Music often makes a political statement in a way that other mediums rarely match. But should our politics end where the stage stops? Learn how musicians have influenced people to take action, and how what happens in your statehouse affects what happens in your local music scene.12:30pm - Building A Local Music Scene
Music isn’t just about getting gigs, it’s about being in a community of musicians. What can we do together to strengthen our music community, and how can we encourage up-and-coming musicians? And we all know that playing music just isn't as much fun if no one is around to listen, so how can you get in front of an audience? We’ll also talk about all-ages shows and what we can do to meet the challenge of having shows where younger musicians and audience members can join.

Band Case Study
It’s one thing to sit around and talk about vague ways to grow your fanbase, it’s another to develop an actionable plan that'll make it happen. One lucky Boise-based band will get the opportunity to have their promotional strategy optimized by a handful of experts. These gurus will assess and critique the artist's PR, touring, recording, publishing, and online game plans. This will be a great chance to hear industry pros explain real-world concepts that propel bands forward.
