She is passionate about human connection, intimacy, relationships, and sexuality and is currently studying to become a certified Somatic Sex Educator through a school based out of Canada. Since somatic sexuality is a body-based perspective, many of the teachings translate to her yoga practice in the form of sensual embodiment and cultivating presence in pleasure. Additionally her yoga has further been informed by a mentorship with Shakti Temple Arts in which she has studied the modalities of Tantra Yoga, Temple Dance, and the Taoist Feminine Arts. Sherika received her 500 hour interdisciplinary training at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica in 2015 and has been teaching in the Boise community ever since. She is currently teaching at True North Yoga, though she is widely known for facilitating myriad unique and fun workshops in the local community. Sherika has also taught extensively in various locales around the world during her years of world travel. Known for her skilled cultivation of safe-enough containers, her soothing voice and approachable movement flows, detailed knowledge of postural alignment and clear verbal cues, skilled ability at inviting people to drop into their meditative awareness, irreverent sense of humor and playfulness, as well as occasionally sprinkling in some sex education tidbits into her classes - you're sure to walk away with something valuable from this experience. Sherika grew up in Boise where she lives with her wife and dog. She is a member of the Southern Sierra Miwuk tribe, Ahwahneechee clan, and as such brings a unique perspective to her classes. She enjoys hikes, running, mountain biking, kayaking, dancing and making art.
