Day 2: More Forts + Fun!

What an incredible start to our sixth birthday!! Last night was amazing and the fun’s just beginning! Get out and explore our many forts and discover what Treefort 2017 has to offer.

Everything from odd to haunting beats at the El Korah Shrine tonight. Locals Cult Bride open the night, along with avant-pop artist Bryson Cone and experimental rapper Leafraker. Later in the night, soulful trip-hip duo Rituals of Mine and hip-hop artist Open Mike Eagle set the mood for psych-pop folk-hop band WHY?

Dance your way over to Neurolux for a rockin’ night featuring psych-rock outfit Battlehooch, Treefort alums AU and New York band Delicate Steve. (21+)

Earlier in the day, an amazing selection of beautiful, intimate music will be held at Boise Contemporary Theater featuring Doug Martsch, Bijouxx and Sleepy Seahorse.

Dive into the vivid instrumental imagery of Polyrhythmics at Hannah’s. Don’t miss local world music group Afrosonics just before them. (21+)

Check out the Esthetic Evolution showcase all night long at Mardi Gras with a stellar lineup featuring Israeli-based electronic musician Perfect Stranger, minimal psych beatmaster Ryan Duley, Seattle-based DJ/producer Adlib and tribal funk DJ Brooke Would.

In need of some femme punk? Head over to Linen Building for a lineup featuring badass babes The Coathangers and Chastity Belt.

Local comedian Emma Arnold kicks off the first night of Comedyfort with the help of Mika Carrozza, Lace Larrabee, Tamer Katten, Amy Miller and Lady Bizness. Comedy starts at 7:00pm!

At 10:00pm there will be an open mic. Step up to the challenge and make your fellow Treeforters giggle!


All events at The Owyhee

Showing tonight at 5:30pm is Liza, Liza, Skies are Grey, a film set in the turbulent summer of 1965.

At 6:00pm, watch the epic story of Kyle Bryant, The Ataxian, a man with a rare disease who embarks on a grueling Ride Across America non-stop for 9 days. In spirit of the movie, Boise Bicycle Project (BBP) is hosting a Social Ride – ride your bike to The Owyhee to watch the film!

Both films will have a question and answer session after their screening.

Performance Art

The Empty Boat Theatre Company presents: There’s Chinese Tunnels Under Boise!, a journey not unlike the game of Zelda, where our friends might just enter the underbelly of Boise, and collect a few fragments of wisdom for themselves. Shows start at 1:00pm and 9:00pm at Boise Contemporary Theater.


Story + Kid: The Comic Bookers: All-Ages Comics Workshop
Boise’s very own Mystery House Comics is joining forces with Storyfort for an all-ages comic book workshop. Come on down to Rediscovered Bookshop (your friendly neighborhood indie bookstore!) and experience this Kidfort-approved mashup of art and story.

Yoga + Story: Mythology of Yoga
Each yoga pose tells a story, rooted in a deep history and tradition. Yogafort and Storyfort for an interactive yoga workshop at Sage Yoga & Wellness, as three talented, storytellin’ yoga instructors take you on a journey of iconic poses and the origin stories that built them.


Foodfort presents an evening of wining and dining with James Beard Award-winning chef and Top Chef series judge Hugh Acheson at Basque Center! This four-course meal wouldn’t do the Foodfort name justice without displaying all the delicious delectables Idaho has to offer—including smoked sturgeon, Snake River Farms pork belly and stewed huckleberries. Each course will be paired with local Cinder Wines. Seating is limited we are now sold out! Special thanks to Snake River Farms for making this evening possible.

Second Chance Shows

Catch the Treeline (circulator bus running 7pm – 2am) to catch your next show and jam out with Hurdy Gurdy Girls and Spike Coggins!

The Record Exchange gifts us with another Secret Treefort In-store performance! Details will be on the RX social media outlets this morning. Make sure to follow The Record Exchange on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to get the latest updates on secret performances during Treefort!

TreeFunk is hosted by PreFunk throughout the entire festival. Check out bands like The Raven & The Writing Desk and WEEED from 5:00pm to 9:40pm. (21+)

Even Stevens will hold music 2:45-5:00pm featuring Josh Mikesell of Panthermilk and Tora’dan.

If you’re not ready to stop partyin’, WOH presents Silent Disco 2.0 at 560 W Main St (parking lot next to Wiseguy Pizza) from 1:00am to 4:00am. This event is $5 with a Treefort wristband, $7 general admission at event, or $10 reserved headphone pre purchase (if you would like to guarantee your entry, go with this option). Headphones are provided by Kaleidisco! DJs include Something Spicy, Feline Rose, Black Plague, Dready Rojo, LoveGunz and No Prophit. (18+)
